Well, I have started my new job....I LOVE it. I am working as a security guard for a company in Statesville that has been around for 50 years!. My co-workers are great and I am making new friends fast.
I am also loving the cooler weather and the animals are enjoying it as well. Everyone around the farm is doing well.....baby chicks are growing ( I have added some hens that will be laying in about 4 months). The bunnies are doing good and I am looking to add a few more to the herd in the next couple of months.
Other than that....things about the same.
Hope to hear that everyone is doing well!

Latest News
Sorry, I haven't posted on this blog in awhile... a lot has taken place over the last week or so.
I am now back at home in the valley, due to "needing" to come home and take care of some business. I have had some "problems" with the lady I am trying to purchase my house from as well as a neighbor. I thought that I was going to have to move and it troubled me because I am just now really getting settled in. I love being here in the valley, however I can say that there is a lot of drama in this small town. We only have 150 people that live here full time and everyone knows every one's business----people around here REALLY like to talk and if they don't have someone or something to talk about, they make things up. I stay to myself and mind my own business and half the time I don't leave my yard and I can still tell you what everyone else is doing! Word around here spreads like fire, even if you don't care to know about it....
Because of the things that I have been dealing with lately, I ended up in the hospital diagnosed with a "mild heart attack". The doctors say that I need to try and stay away from stress (yeah, like that is going to happen!) and to exercise more and eat a cardiac diet (that isn't going to happen either). The "mild heart attack" was stress related so I am trying to relax and not worry about things as much.
I am feeling somewhat better and at the moment things have settled down and I don't think I have to move. I have to take each day as it comes and pray that the Lord will show me the way.
In "Farm" news, we have 6 Batham Cochin chicks and hope to add another couple of laying hens soon....the price of eggs (as well as everything else) has gone up. I have also rehomed a couple of the dogs to help cut down on the dog feed bill....I miss them, however I was very selective about their new homes and feel like they were all placed in loving homes.
The bunnies are doing fine and I named the JW babies---broken black buck has been named BL" Tiki Man and the chestnut doe, is BL's Tips.
Hope to hear everyone is doing well....and maybe I will be able to attend the Greensboro show!

Still Around
Because of the job situation in my home town, I am currently in TopSail North Carolina at my sister's house (she lives right off the beach...really....when you walk off the deck you are standing in the sands of the ocean). We are working a temp. job for a company on the marine base to help them get some things wrapped up. Looking at being here for 6 to 8 weeks and then, headed home.
I am already homesick and have only been here a week! however I know that I have to do what I have to do, in order to be able to pay my bills, take care of my boys and feed the critters.
Mom is taking care of things on the homefront, as well as my oldest son and I get a daily report on how everything is going.
I am going to try and make the Greensboro show in September, but it depends on if I can make it home in time to prepare for everything.
My broken baby JW appears to be a buck and the chestnut appears to be a doe ( I have had the sex fairy come and change them on me before, so this is what I am going by in the mean time). McKie's Lilly will be returning home after she weans her kits and I am so happy!
Other than, that not much is going on.
Hope that everyone else is doing well and hope to see you all soon!!!!

SO HOT
It's been very hot here, as well as it seems to be every where else. Trying to keep the animals cool has been the hardest, but thankfully we haven't lost anyone. Waters have to be checked often and even if they have water, we check the temperature because it gets warm and the animals won't drink it.
We haven't ridden the horses, except for twice in the late evening and I no longer take Dazin for her walks...we really need some cool weather!
I tried mowing the grass today, however I felt like I was going to have a heat stroke, so I am putting it off until later on this evening. We have had a lot of storms, but it just seems to only cool things down for a minute and then it becomes "hot and steamy" outside.
My JW babies are doing good...growing like weeds and they are in their "cutest" stage.....chunky faces and the tiny ears. Hopefully they will turn out to be show quaility----if not, they will have to move on. I promised myself to stay small with the bunnies and I am sticking to it.
Hope that everyone is doing well and keeping cool....I sure can't wait til fall!

Latest news
It has been so hot lately and I am looking forward to the fall weather! I attended the Taylorsville night show and it was great to see all of my rabbit friends. I did notice that the number of people that were showing, has dwindled down compared to when I was showing a little over a year ago...it made me a little sad. Showing the rabbits is a great hobby and you meet so many wonderful and friendly folks...I want to blame it on our economy. Rabbit sells has also really seemed to have dropped off as well.
Thanks to Teresa B., I was able to bring "BL'S Lefty" back into my rabbitry, as well as a new addition...a really cute little blue doe, named Toy.
My new babies have opened their eyes and are jumping around in the nest box a little....they are so cute and hopefully will be some nice show bunnies.
I am looking for some cages, I decieded to go with hanging cages this time verses the stackers, because I just don't have alot of extra time to keep the stackers clean. If anyone has any available, please contact me with what you have and your asking price.
Other than that, I'm just trying to keep everyone cool and comfortable.....we are going to be in for one HOT summer. Hope all is well with everyone!

Taylorsville Night Show
I am planning on attending the Taylorsville night show on July 9th, however I won't be showing. The only doe I have at the present time has two babies on her and the buck is in a sever molt.
I am hoping to pick up another Buck and Doe, to get my rabbitry started back up. I have promised myself to keep it VERY small and manageable for me. I have a trio of buff- colored silkies that I would like to sell (asking $35.00 for the 2 hens and one rooster), if any one is interested. I have made the decision to stay with the Batham Cochin's. My email address is brandi_loughrey@yahoo.com if anyone would like me to bring them to the show.
My new babies are a broken chestnut (with a full butterfly, just not sure if it will have the 10% color needed to show) and a chestnut....not sure of their sexes yet. They are the tiniest babies that I have ever had before. I am so excited to be starting back up with the bunnies and hopefully can start showing Bones again sometime later this year.
We've had alot of rain lately, here in the Valley and it is much needed. It has cooled things off quite abit and is helping the tomato plants grow!
Not much else to report for the time being...hope everyone is staying safe and having a good summer.

It's about Time!
Bl's Intensity and Keep's Mini Me are the proud parents of 2 JW babies. Intensity kindled 4 this morning (2 DOA) one appears to be either a chestnut or an otter and the other is a broken charlie. They are VERY tiny, so I hope they survive. It has been many months since I have had any kits born---I only have 2 woolies at the present time. I'm hoping that the chestnut (or otter) is showable. I am sooo ready to start showing again, however I know that I won't be able to show until the fall---works out better for me, at least it won't be so hot!
I am excited about the new babies....this is the start up for my new rabbitry. I plan on keeping the name BL'S Bunnybarn, since it is already established with ARBA.
Other than that, I have no news...trying to keep all the critters cool is a full time job and I am staying busy with that.
Hope all is well with everyone!

Whats been going on
I decided to create this "new" blog for two reasons...one because I love to read other peoples blogs and two, because I have had alot of my old friends ask me, "what have you been up to lately? We haven't seen or heard from you in so long"!
Pete and I separated over a year ago and alot of things have changed in my life. I moved to Love Valley and LOVE it here. Thousands of acres of mountains and horse trails. I still have most of my animals with a couple of new additions...a blue heeler pup by the name of Dazin, a bullmastiff/rottie pup by the name of Creed, 2 new horses--Buck Shot and Nokhoma and some chickens. I sold all of my rabbits with the exception of one, BL'S Intensity and I recently purchased a small, cute Chestnut buck from Kristen, named Keep's Mini Me---I am planning on getting back into the Jersey Woolies, but will only keep a small herd (no more than 10), so that means culling will be brutal!
I have lost some weight, however, I want to lose another 5 to 10 pounds. I am a much happier person and even though at times, I am still struggling....I am happy with my life and the way that things are going----I do miss my old friends and wish I had more time to visit. I have not been to any dog or rabbit shows in quite some time (with the exception of the Taylorsville show and I went to pick up my new buck). Hopefully all of this will change and I can get back into the swing of things.
I send alot of my time relaxing on horseback and working with the animals. Trace is growing like a weed and will be 14 on the 15th of July...my how time seems to fly!
Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that, I am still alive and doing well....I plan on keeping this blog updated, and sharing how things are going.
I'm so glad to be back!!!!
